Cousteau’s Calypso to be scuttled?
Once the ship that helped pioneer scuba exploration of stunning dive sites like Sipadan, Jacques Cousteau's Calypso now lies rotting in a La Rochelle harbour
CDNN carries a heartbreaking story on the fate of Jacques Cousteau's flagship Calypso, the boat that took him all over the world exploring the planet's oceans, but which now is disintegrating in a French harbour while lawyers have argued about questions of ownership ever since Cousteau died back in 1997. Such a shame his legacy gets literally destroyed by a bunch of legal wrangling. It was Cousteau that first named Borneo's Sipadan as one of the greatest diving spots in the world.
